All Ahead, Full Stop.

Without stating the bleedin' obvious, it's a very weird time for everyone isn't it?  Across the world we are in lock-down or isolation of some sort.  I personally haven’t been out from the confines of house and garden for nearly two weeks now.  I was with my sister Kate, albeit briefly, the day before she passed away, and the cause of death recorded on the official paperwork was Covid19, so obviously I have had to be in complete isolation.

My family is ticking-along as well as can be expected, and we all speak regularly on the phone or via Facetime. We are not allowed to actually get together as a family and a proper funeral will NOT happen, and that is very upsetting.   My niece confirmed earlier today that the “non-funeral” will take place next Wednesday; a service that nobody can actually go to, but will be a regular cremation, with music of our choice playing (if we want) and someone (an official) saying a few words.
Paul and I have been spending quite a bit of time in the garden, greenhouses and shed; as I am now officially on ‘furlough’ too, I don’t feel too guilty just pottering about!  The most exciting thing that has happened recently is that we had our first ever food delivery yesterday afternoon!  It was from Hayles Fruit Farm-shop as it now seems that none of the ‘biggies’ (Tesco, Sainsbury, Waitrose) are taking on new registrations…! The order was a tad more expensive but then again, it was either that or start gnawing bits of cardboard or munch on the seedlings in the greenhouse!  BUT, joking aside, all the produce was of good quality, locally sourced (on the whole), and covered all categories – dairy, meat, vegetable, salad, fruit.  The delivery was free too!

We haven’t done any shopping for over two weeks anyway, because we were already on isolation before the official national lock-down came into play.  As it is, our neighbours have been very generous – when they go to the local shops they have picked up basics for us – bread, milk, cheese, fresh veg.

The photos make you want to step right in so to speak. Everything is so tidy and organised, I love that.
A garden is a wonderful place to be even if it is the only place outdoors you can go to at the moment.
Take care, keep writing the blogs.
Love Barbara xxx

I dislike the word ‘furlough’ and had believed it was a relatively recent import from the States. However, a glance at my trusty OED reveals the first usage in English as 1681 - so that tells me...!

Your garden and greenhouse are models of their kind - they look full of promise. Thought of marketing your own vegetable boxes...?
