It has been a full-on couple of weeks (again). With restrictions being lifted and then put into slow-drive some might complain, but personally I think what’s another month after the past fifteen months whilst the emergence of new variants appear to be very virulent and we don’t want to ‘slip back’ again (like at Christmas time) - that would be foolhardy.
It is not ideal from a personal point of view because it has already impacted on the theatre work that Paul has booked into the diary, and the income would be good…. but I would rather that people were safe and healthy in the long term. The show that is coming in this week is “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” (starring Jason Donavan) but that has been set-up as a socially distanced run, but the next one is “Hairspray” and as it was optimistically sold as a normal house, with the announcement on the 17th June it has been postponed ‘until further notice’.  Not ideal – for anyone – but least of all for those trying to earn an honest crust!

Having said, that my five different job roles have been wringing all energy out of me!  Evaluating the current ‘portfolio’ has been at the forefront of my mind recently and it is highly likely I will make a few changes over the summer months.  It is more obvious that I have even less patience than ever with – what I consider – the waste of my time whether it being driving somewhere or doing something (or too much of something) that is dull or bureaucratic.  Perhaps the events of the past year or so has made many of us consider what is important and – frankly – what is a load of tosh!?

So, watch this space. Again!  As it is, I’ve enjoyed being able to do some basic clerical type work whilst sitting outside.  It has been such beautiful weather and even digital filing of policies can be tolerated when the birds are tweeting, twitching and fluttering around, the church bells are ringing and there is the distant shrieks from children running around and playing.

So, naturally, I have been boring my family and friends to tears with daily updates and photos of my garden!  They’re fortunate really – insofar as I force Paul to ‘tour the estate’ at least once a day and he indulges my apparent need to wax lyrical about the emergen
ce of a new leaf or petal or bud or off-shoot!

So – that’s about as exciting as it gets – as we celebrated our sixteenth wedding anniversary earlier in the month (3rd June). And we were able to go out for a meal!  Woo-hoo!! Luckily Winchcombe boasts a variety of ‘eateries’ and it is very civilised to be able to walk – because then both of us can enjoy a decent bottle of vino!  We went to a restaurant called Wesley House – which is also a 15th century Merchant’s House. It was so nice to be cooked for!!
Actually, there have been a number of ‘firsts’ in a long-while, this month; a family get-together with BBQ, dog-walks and being allowed to “have-a-hug”, Paul and I visited my niece in Manchester for Bank Holiday Monday and some distanced socialising at Salford Quays [and Media City] which is a short walk from her studio apartment, Ali and I enjoyed a birthday lunch with / for Mum and, last but not least, we also went to our favourite – the River Avon Chinese Restaurant in Evesham – for no reason whatsoever other than we were allowed to – and love going there!
