Snapshot - Veg Progress

I have hundreds of photos taken at random times with the absolute conviction that I am going to write a progression report and proudly show-off my green-fingered finesse....!  Well, naturally that is a bit of dream and misnomer.  However, today I took these pictures at about 5.30am (when the sun was actually shining) and I am determined to share them on the same day.

So, Greenhouse No. 2 is protecting Tomato Bauna F1 (in the big pots either side)  which are an "improved Shirley type" and early to mature.  There are also two Caramel tomato plants donated by a friend (by the door).  At the end, the cucumbers climbing up the flashy and devilishly clever frame engineered by my Under Gardener (Paul) - are called Beit Alpha F1 Hybrid. They are going great guns and the first flower appeared yesterday.

And these little gems are Cherry Blast F1  - a trailing variety and suitable for hanging baskets!  They are a heavy cropper apparently and "the same breed as Tumbling Tom".

In the veg patch the peas, French beans, Runner beans, sweetcorn and beetroot are doing very well.... again, a few pods and flowers have emerged in the past week.  That very hot spell urged everything on - and now with the downpours of rain the weeds are catching up too!  (ignore those please).

I have plants various varieties of peas and beans which were in my seed store so naturally have no idea what they are, but I did actually buy a few specifically:

• Climbing French Bean Blue Lake
• Pea Alderman

And the sweetcorn are Incredible F1 SE.

The Parsnips Tender and True are also in the ground but I'm not holding my breath!

In Greenhouse No. 1  there are a few more Mediterranean plants growing by the inch every day - Sweet Pepper Mavras F1 and Chilli Pepper Spangles (mild heat). I've also used old purple basil seeds and they seem to be doing quite well.

Obviously I am going to include photos of the rest of the garden - after all it was silly-o'clock!  The big daisies have taken over (again) and a lot of the lupins have already gone over - as have some of the roses, but I hope that having done some dead-heading and my version of pruning, we may get a second flush.  Actually, my lupins are usually pretty robust.  The delphiniums are strikingly tall but yet to flower, but my home-grown fox-gloves and sweetpeas are absolutely marvellous!

This photo was taken a few days ago. It is a rose bush that sulked after we moved it but this year it has done itself proud!
